A New Breakfast Spot In Burr Ridge

The mayor and others celebrated the opening by throwing eggs on the floor.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Yolk, a chain of breakfast and lunch restaurants in the Chicago area, opened a location in Burr Ridge on Tuesday.

It is at the Village Center at 595 Village Center Drive.

At a ceremony in the restaurant, owner Taki Kastanis, along with Mayor Gary Grasso and others, threw eggs on the floor. A video was taken.

"This is a moment we have been waiting for for over a year," Kastanis said.

Kastanis founded his first Yolk restaurant in 2006 in Chicago's South Loop.

"It didn’t take long before the Yolk concept of upscale breakfast and lunch fare took off in a big way, resulting in the opening of several more Yolk locations in downtown Chicago," the chain's website says.

According to the website, Kastanis grew up in restaurants. At one time, his parents owned as many as 10 of them.

The Burr Ridge restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Its phone number is 847-231-9655.
