BURR RIDGE, IL – A top Burr Ridge official on Monday presented a "conservative" timeline for the construction of a new Village Hall.

"This is a timeline that staff feels like we can adhere to in any circumstance," Village Administrator Evan Walter said at Monday's Village Board meeting. It's a reliable timeline, "rather than saying this is a hope and prayer that things have to go extra right for us."

Mayor Gary Grasso and trustees said they appreciated the detailed timeline.

"We hope to underpromise and overdeliver," the mayor said.

Burr Ridge is poised to sell the 40-year-old Village Hall building to Goddard School, a preschool chain. Then the village plans to build new village offices adjoining the neighboring police station.

Grasso said he recently told the architect what the village would like to see in a new Village Hall.

"We should make sure it doesn't look like we just added on to the police station," he said. "I have asked the architect to make the building a village hall that happens to also have the police department in it, not an addition to the police department."

According to the timeline, the village expects to close on the Village Hall sale in May, with construction of the new offices set for a month later. The project is slated to end by May 2027.

"With this timeline in place, we can minimize the pain experienced by anybody," Trustee Guy Franzese said.
