According to the resident who made the report, the man offered her children, ages 7 and 9, a ride at the intersection of 79th Street and Drew Avenue.

On Tuesday, Police Chief John Madden sent this email out to school districts:

"At 12:30 p.m. [Jan. 31] Burr Ridge Detectives identified and interviewed the male suspect in Friday’s suspicious incident in Burr Ridge. The suspect admitted to being in the area and speaking to the kids, however he denies offering the kids a ride home. We will continue to investigate this incident and I will keep you informed on our progress.

I would appreciate your assistance in passing this information on to the parents in each of your Districts. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns."

Vaclav declined to provide further details about how the identity of the man was determined, but did say that Comcast was "very helpful" with this case. No information on whether the driver of the van was a Comcast driver or whether it was a Comcast van the man was driving at that time.
