Willowbrook-Burr Ridge Chamber of Commerce Announces Scholarship Winners

Two recent Hinsdale South grads will received $1,500 each at the chamber's July 11 luncheon meeting.

Scholarship award winners Benjamin Wallin and Katherine Favia recent graduates of High School will each be presented with a check for $1,500 at the July 11th luncheon of the Willowbrook/Burr Ridge Chamber of Commerce and Industry starting at 11:30 am at the Willowbrook Holiday Inn, 7800 South Kingery Highway, Willowbrook.  

Benjamin Wallin was active in Drama Club, Marching Band and Peer Mediation.  His service projects include Habitat for Humanity and Feed the Starving Children. He participated in the hand bell choir and orchestra at St. John’s Lutheran Church in LaGrange.  Benjamin has a handyman business and is attending College of DuPage studying Library Science.

Katherine Favia plans to become a physician specializing in oncology.  She will be attending the University of Illinois majoring in Biochemistry.  Katherine was involved in swimming, outdoor club, volleyball, Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society.  Her service project was Environmental Concerns Club.  Katherine worked at Dominick’s and as a babysitter.

The Chamber Cruisin 66 Committee will have a “Kick Off” following the scholarship presentations.  A sampling of classic cars will be on display in the Holiday Inn parking lot.  Enjoy an old fashioned sundae while you are looking at the cars.

Advance reservations for Chambers members should e made by noon, Tuesday, July 10th.  Cost for the luncheon is $20 in advance for members, $25 at the door for members and $25 for non-members.
