Work Without Permit? Burr Ridge Plans Crackdown
At least twice last year, the village handled cases where contractors were alleged to have done work without a permit.
BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge experienced at least a couple of instances last year in which contractors were alleged to have done work without permits.
Officials aim to crack down on the practice.
At Monday's Village Board meeting, Village Administrator Evan Walter said officials planned to start a contractor registration program.

"This will require contractors to register with us, and if they violate our rules, they won't be able to work in the village," Walter said. "That'll also hold them accountable to residents and make sure that work gets done quickly and more by the book for (residents') benefit."
Last summer, a family alleged that their contractor did not get a permit for a fence. But Mayor Gary Grasso later said the village learned the contractor advised them to get one. The village ordered the family to take down part of the fence.
