Illinois Dog Rescuer Proposes On 'Ellen DeGeneres' Show

During the show, Fritz and his now-fiancé were rewarded for their kind efforts in saving 'Dory' on Nov. 2 from a lake in central Illinois.

CHAMPAIGN, IL — A Champaign man who saved a caged abandoned dog from a central Illinois lake on Nov. 2 just made someone else's day — but on national television. Bryant Fritz has been waiting to bring "Dory" — the dog he saved from Kaufman Lake — home to live with him and his girlfriend, Krystal, and announced during an appearance Wednesday on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that he's finally about to get to bring the dog home. After Fritz rescued Dory, he and Krystal took her to the U of I College of Veterinary Medicine. She was then brought to the Champaign County Animal Control until the police investigation in her case wrapped up.

After rewarding Fritz and Krystal for their kind efforts with a wagon full of pet toys from her pet line, DeGeneres took the dog as quickly as they could to Ellen then asked the couple, "Will you get married?"

Fritz responded, "So, Krystal really hates surprises, and I love surprising her." He then went on to say, "We had a dog named Ozzie that passed away a couple years ago and I had always planned on doing this with him, and I never really got the chance. And it just feels right now. Krystal, you are the most beautiful person I have ever met and I would like to ask you to be... Will you be the mother to our Dory, will you be my wife and will you marry me?”

Through tears of happiness, Krystal said "Yes," and the couple was then rewarded with a cool $25,000.
