2 Teens Arrested, 1 With A Gun After Minooka Traffic Stop: Cops

MINOOKA, IL — Minooka Police have taken two juveniles into custody and sent them to a local detention center following a weekend traffic stop that led one of the teens to flee on foot with a gun, police said on Tuesday.

The teens were arrested on Saturday following the traffic stop in the area of Ridge Road at Holt Road for a traffic violation. Police said that during the interaction with officers, one of the passengers fled the traffic stop on foot. After a short foot chase, the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

Minooka Police K9 Kya searched in the direction where the suspect ran and assisted officers in locating a 9mm pistol loaded with a 33-round extended magazine inserted into the handgun. One of the teens was transported to the River Valley Justice Center for obstructing his identity and on an active warrant, police said. The other juvenile was transported to LaSalle County Juvenile Detention Center for obstructing a police officer and on charges if aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
