CHANNAHON, IL — Last week, 32-year-old Jessica Rogers appeared at the Will County Courthouse to plead guilty to violating another order of protection. By Friday afternoon, Rogers was brought to the Will County Jail by Channahon's police force on yet another arrest for the same crime.

"Channahon PD received a call that (Rogers) was at that residence with both of those parties present and causing a scene. Channahon PD responded and found her there and arrested," the Will County State's Attorney's Office petition to deny pretrial release indicated.

Will County Associate Judge Ben Braun, after hearing the prosecution's evidence, ruled that Rogers must be kept in Will County's Jail under the SAFE-T-Act.

According to Saturday's criminal complaint, Rogers, after having been served notice of her order of protection back on May 23, "was ordered not to stay or be at the address" in the 24000 block of South Cardinal Drive in Channahon "and was found by the Channahon Police Department at that address" on Dec. 12.

Prosecutors have charged Rogers with two counts of unlawful violation of an order of protection. The second charge indicates that Rogers was ordered to stay away from a man and a woman "and she did not stay away ... and had contact with both parties."

According to one of the orders of protection, on April 26, "Jessica started beating on her mom. I got in between. She tried taking her mom's phone. I stopped her, but she dug her fingernails into my arm. I was able to retrieve the phone. She takes things from the house. Takes them to Chicago and sells these items so she can buy her drugs. She won't stay on her bipolar medications. She's not mentally stable. She's a danger to herself and to others. I have to lock her mother in the bedroom so Jessica can't hurt her."

Last Tuesday, when Rogers appeared at the Will County Courthouse to plead guilty to her most recent violation of an order of protection, she was sentenced to 24 months of probation and to 16 days in the Will County Jail and given credit for the 16 days she already served. She was also ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and tender proof of completion. She was also forbidden from having further contact with the man and woman and their address in Channahon.

"Defendant shall be released as to this matter," last week's order from Will County Judge Tom Slazyk reads.

Rogers also pleaded guilty on April 16, 2024, to an October 2023 charge of unlawful violation of an order of protection. For that crime, she received 12 months of court supervision and was ordered to pay $577 in court fines.

"Defendant shall tender proof of ongoing mental health treatment," the 2024 Will County sentencing order reads.

According to an October 2023 order of protection from that crime, "I am requesting an order of protection against ... Jessica because she is tearing up the house. She screams and hollers at everybody. She threatens to stab herself and us and wants to burn the house down. We lock our bedroom door, and she breaks the lock. When I say we are going to call the cops, she laughs ... she needs help and I cannot put up with her anymore. She does all kinds of drugs. You name it, she has done it."

The most recent filing by the Will County State's Attorney's Office to keep Rogers detained under the SAFE-T-Act revealed that Rogers has violated her order of protection at least five times "that the State is aware of ... She just pleaded guilty to this offense on December 9th in Courtroom 801 in front of Judge (Tom) Slazyk."

Rogers was also in the Will County Jail from June 30 until July 2 following a Channahon police arrest. According to court records, officers were sent to the house in the 24000 block of South Cardinal Lane at 10:18 p.m. on June 30 for a violation of protection order. The man who lives at the house told them Rogers had entered the house after he returned from a neighbor's house. He "stated that defendant had removed all of her clothing and locked herself in his bedroom.

"Officers entered the residence and unlocked the bedroom door where defendant had locked herself inside ... upon opening the bathroom door, defendant was irate and speaking nonsense while naked. Officers handed her a blanket from the bedroom and ordered her to cover herself ... defendant's mother handed her her clothing and defendant began to dress herself," court records show.
