Ambulance Driver Cited In Minooka Crash At Ridge Road: Sheriff

Last Friday's crash involved a Minooka ambulance that was traveling eastbound on Wildy Road with its emergency lights and sirens going.

MINOOKA — The 19-year-old driver of the Minooka Fire Protection District ambulance has been issued a citation in connection with last Friday's wreck at Ridge Road and Wildy Road that sent five people to the hospital, including two people with serious injuries.

Kendall County's Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday that the ambulance was traveling east on Wildy with its emergency lights and sirens activated. When the ambulance entered Ridge Road, a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old man heading north on Ridge Road crashed into it.

The 51-year-old woman being transported in the ambulance and the 31-year-old driver of the car suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, Kendall County said. The three additional people in the Minooka ambulance, including a 52-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, plus the ambulance driver, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Kendall County said the 19-year-old Minooka ambulance driver, Jacob Truhlar, has been issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
