Brutal Beating Left Child With Liver and Pancreatic Injuries: Cops
A Joliet man is wanted in connection with the child's brutal beating.

JOLIET, IL — A brutally beaten child suffered liver and pancreatic injuries at the hands of a Joliet man, police said.
Kardan Mitchell, 23, faces charges of aggravated battery to a child, aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery. The child he beat was younger than 13, according to a criminal complaint on file in Will County court, and lived in the same home as Mitchell.
Mitchell savaged the youth between the day after Christmas and the day after New Year’s, the complaint said.

Mitchell remains at large. The warrant for his arrest carries a $750,000 bond.
Mitchell is currently free on bond while he faces a June 2016 criminal case. In that case, he was charged with grabbing a 23-year-old woman by the neck and then — after he was placed under arrest — smashing a squad car window, crawling out and dashing off while handcuffed.

Mitchell surrendered the next day. He was charged with criminal damage to property, escape, obstructing identification and domestic battery.
Mitchell is scheduled to appear in court for that case on June 6.
