Channahon Child Sex Offender Visits McKinley Woods: Prosecutors
Peter Ventsias, who turns 69 in July, was busted by the Will County Forest Preserve Police on April 25.

CHANNAHON, IL — During the warmer months, it's not uncommon for area convicted sex offenders to visit Will County's many forest preserves. That's why the Will County Forest Preserve Police are often out and about, checking the license plates of people visiting the forest preserves. One of the most recent arrests happened in Channahon at the McKinley Woods Forest Preserve, resulting in criminal charges of child sex offender in a public park for 68-year-old Channahon resident Peter Alexander Ventsias, who lives in the 25000 block of South Parkside Drive.
Ventsias visited the McKinley Woods Fredrick's Grove, at 27110 South McKinley Woods Road in Channahon, on April 25, according to last week's criminal complaint filed at the Will County Courthouse.
He arrived at the McKinley Woods in his 2019 white Toyota passenger car at 1:44 p.m., court records show. The Illinois State Police sex offender registry indicates Ventsias is a lifetime registrant. He committed three crimes of predatory criminal sexual assault when he was 50 years old and his victim was 8 years old, in Will County.
