Ahmad Douglas and his family took over Teardrop Pancake House in 2020, after it opened in 2018. On April 6, the owners of Teardrop unveiled a dinner menu for the first time. They are now serving up dinner three nights a week: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, in addition to being open for breakfast and lunch.
Now, in an even more ambitious project, the Douglas family plans to open a second restaurant location next year in Channahon.

Ahmad Douglas said he lives in Channahon.
During a recent interview inside Teardrop Pancake House, Patch asked Douglas when he hoped to open the new restaurant in Channahon.
"About a year from now, mid 2024," he remarked.
The Channahon restaurant would be conducive to outdoor patio dining, he said.
The building's address is 2441 W. Eames St. The plan for the Channahon restaurant is to offer "breakfast, lunch and dinner."
The restaurant will also have a liquor license to serve alcohol to customers.
Why did the owners of Teardrop Pancake House decide to acquire the former village hall property for their restaurant expansion endeavor?
"It was a good buy. It made sense," Douglas said. "We've seen three years of success here, and we know can do well here."
