Channahon Highway Transport Facility To Open In Feb. of 2022

Facility will have a 7,300-square-foot tank wash building, a 5,100-square-foot maintenance building and a 5,300-square-foot office.

CHANNAHON, IL —Construction is expected to begin soon on a Highway Transport tank wash and shop for semi-trucks in Channahon, REJournals.com reported last Thursday. The facility, which will be located at 3801 Youngs Road, will be built by Principle Construction Corp., a full-service design build general contractor.

According, to REJournals.com, Highway Transport, a Tennessee-based tanker trucking company, is relocating from another site in Joliet, where its lease is ending.

The Channahon facility, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of Feb. 2022, is expected to include a 7,300-square-foot tank wash facility, a 5,100-square-foot maintenance building and a 5,300-square-foot office. The 19.8 acre site will have 97 trailer parking spaces and 38 tractor spaces, according to REJournals.com

The project also requires numerous specialized process systems and an all precast concrete skin and roof system, to support those systems.

According to REJournals.com, the facility will have 22-foot clear height ceilings and a roof structure designed to accommodate high moisture content. The Principle team also will install a full waste-water treatment facility, compressed air systems in each building and a steam pipe system and explosion-proof lighting in the tank wash building.

Additionally, each building will be fully sprinklered. Plus, the buildings will have a total of 14 drive in doors– six in the maintenance shop, six in the tank wash and two in the waste-water and boiler rooms.

"Working with Highway Transport on this project is another extension to our history of building trucking related buildings," said Principle Construction COO Mark Augustyn, who serves as the principal on the project. "Trucking continues to be a crucial industry as we rely on it for the continuously growing ecommerce sector."

Partners in Design will serve as the architect for the project, according to REJournals.com
