Death On Interstate 80 As Wrong-Way Driver Collides With Semi
The overnight fatality prompted the Illinois State Police to shut down the section of Interstate 80 near Minooka for several hours.

MINOOKA — The driver of a car who was heading into the wrong direction along Interstate 80 is now dead following an overnight crash into a semitrailer near Minooka.
According to a press release, Grundy County Coroner John Callahan’s Office said it is investigating a traffic crash that claimed the life of a 58-year-old Chicago man. The incident occurred just after midnight on I-80 near milepost 119 ½.
Preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle driven by Keith R. Oswald was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-80 when he struck a semi tractor trailer head on, the coroner noted.

Callahan said the crash remains under investigation by the Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.
Earlier, WCSJ in Morris reported that the person died in the two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near Minooka around midnight. The radio station reported that it received word from the Grundy County Coroner’s Office that one vehicle was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 and the driver struck a semi-truck head-on.

WJOL in Joliet reported that the early morning accident on the westbound stretch of I-80 near Minooka had all westbound lanes blocked Friday morning between Ridge Road and Brisbin Road. I-80 was finally reopened around 7 a.m., according to the radio station.
