Empty Channahon Bar Finds New Owners From Joliet

Channahon Bar & Grill closed last fall and has been for sale. It's located off the beaten path, near the intersection of Fryer and Bridge.

CHANNAHON, IL — A bar and restaurant that has been around Channahon for decades but fell into hard times as of late will be coming back to life late this summer. Channahon Bar & Grill at the intersection of Fryer and Bridge streets went out of business last fall and has been for sale.

In recent days, Eden Mueller Wiechec, identified on Facebook as owner and founder of Eden Bar & Grill at 926 Gardner St. on Joliet's east side, informed her social media followers that "we are thrilled to announce that the neighborhood bar formerly known as Channahon bar and grill is under new ownership and undergoing a complete renovation to become Tru Country Bar and Grill."

The Joliet bar owner shared on Facebook that Tru Country Bar will feature a new bar and kitchen and a spacious outdoor patio, "perfect for enjoying drinks and food in the beautiful weather. We will also have gaming and entertainment to keep you having fun all night long."

In her post, Eden noted that Tru Country Bar and Grill intends to open in August. For many years, the Channahon establishment at 25365 South Fryer Street was known as Rittof's Tavern.

Before becoming the Channahon Bar & Grill, Lallos Bar and Grill was previously located there.
