Glider Crash in Minooka Claims Man’s Life
The Tinley Park man died in a glider crash in a Minooka field.

MINOOKA, Il — A Tinley Park man was killed in a Saturday afternoon glider crash.
James Patton, 69, was pronounced dead in a field near West Airport Road in Minooka.
Will County deputies were sent to the Chicago Glider Club Gliderport about 3:30 p.m. and found the wreckage of a white glider.

Witnesses said the glider was taking off and still attached to a tow plane when a wing dipped and it plunged to the ground.
Patton, the sole occupant of the glider, was killed.

Representives from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are responded to the death scene and are investigating the fatal crash along with the sheriff's department.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.
