Human Remains Found In Rural Kankakee County: Authorities
The coroner's office consulted with a certified forensic anthropologist at the University of Illinois to confirm the remains were human.
PEMBROKE TOWNSHIP, IL — Human remains were found Wednesday in rural Kankakee County, according to authorities.
Police were notified 4:40 p.m. about possible human remains in the 2000 block of South 16000 East Road in Pembroke Township, the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office reported Thursday.
The coroner’s office consulted with a board-certified forensic anthropologist at the University of Illinois, who confirmed the remains were human, and the official date and time of death were determined to be 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to authorities.

An examination of the remains is set for March 15 at the Champaign County Regional Autopsy Facility, the coroner’s office said, adding the incident remains under investigation.
