CHANNAHON, IL — One of the most highly visible blighted properties in the entire Joliet region is finally being destroyed, so you will never, ever, have to look at that eyesore again.

Demolition contractors were busy Friday tearing down the vacant Ivo's Family Restaurant & Lounge at the busy intersection of Route 6 and Interstate 55 in Channahon. WJOL's Scott Slocum broke the news of the Ivo's demolition on Thursday.

In 2020, Joliet Patch published a real estate story revealing that the empty Ivo's Family Restaurant & Lounge had been listed on the market for more than a year at $525,000 but nobody wanted to buy it. In 2020, the price came down to $389,000.

Prior to this week's demolition, the Ivo's restaurant had been empty for almost 10 years.
