Local Boys Take Home First Place; JJC Sets Spring Gala

The gymnastics team at I & M Gymnastics took home the USAG boys state title.

The boys gymnastic team at I & M Gymnastics, 24232 S Northern Illinois Drive in Channahon, took first place in the State Boys Gymnastics Championship Competition. The team has three boys: Mekhi Cortes, 8, of Channahon; Tyler Ratcliff, 10, of Channahon and Jared Bieker, 11, of Minooka.

Julie Tkaczuk, the owner of I & M gymnastics said the coach of the boys team is Matthew Hazelka, of Channahon.

"They have been working very hard all season," Tzaczuk said.

At the first meet this season, the boys won first place team and Tzaczuk said she thinks it lit a fire underneath them.

The boys also won individual awards this season. Cortez and Ratcliff won first place all around and Bieker won second place in competition.
