Escaped Inmate Captured: Grundy County Sheriff
Andrew Viles, 34, escaped during meal delivery at the jail and was on the lam for less than 24 hours.

MORRIS, IL — An escaped Grundy County inmate captured Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after escaping from the county jail. The sheriff's office said Andrew J. Viles, 34, left the facility Saturday during meal delivery.
Police said Viles was apprehended just after 2 p.m. near Stockdale Road and North Saratoga Road in Morris. He was taken into custody by Deputy Eric Halpin and Sgt. Josh Slattery.
"We would also like to thank the public for the outpouring of tips and reported sightings," the sheriff's office said Sunday. "We are truly grateful for the unity shown throughout this investigation between the public, our communities and the sheriff’s office."

According to WCSJ, Viles was arrested in June in connection with two business burglaries in Morris. He was accused of burglarizing a Citgo gas station and the Greenhorn Saloon, 3030 E. Route 6, on April 24. He had five prior burglary convictions and served several stints in the Illinois Department of Corrections, according to the station.
Viles was released on parole for a 2012 burglary conviction in March, according to IDOC.
