CHANNAHON, IL — Two years after Starbucks built a new coffee shop in Minooka along Ridge Road near the Interstate 80 exit, the international coffeehouse is now underway in the nearby village of Channahon.

Foundation work is underway just up the road on Route 6 from the Minooka South Community High School campus. The new Starbucks is being built next to the McDonald's restaurant along Yellow Pine Drive, across the street from the Hunters West subdivision.

The new Starbucks is expected to open later this year, according to Channahon's recently re-elected Mayor Missey Moorman Schumacher.

"From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company," the company's website proclaims. "Today, with more than 32,000 stores in 80 countries, Starbucks is the premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world. And with every cup, we strive to bring both our heritage and an exceptional experience to life."

Construction of the Starbucks isn't the only new business development taking place in that area of Channahon, out toward Ridge Road.

A Tractor Supply retail store is expected to break ground any day on a parcel of land off Route 6, which is currently an access road, according to Channahon's mayor.

The Tractor Supply store will be closer to the high school campus, rather than the McDonald's and the Starbucks.
