Nuns' Bookkeeper Stole Up to $500K Worth of Donations: Cops

The Orland Hills woman faces up to 30 years in prison.

JOLIET, IL — A bookkeeper ripped off the Sisters of St. Francis for as much as a half million dollars, according to a criminal complaint on file in Will County court.

Lynn Conrad, 56, was arrested and jailed Monday morning for allegedly scamming the sisters.

Conrad was taken into custody on seven counts of felony theft and two counts of misdemeanor theft. She faces up to 30 years in prison.

A criminal complaint filed in Will County court said Conrad, an employee of the Sisters of St. Francis, stole from them for nearly four years between 2010 and 2014.

Conrad’s Linkedin page says she has been the “head bookkeeper” for the Sisters of St. Francis since 2004.

Conrad, an Orland Hills resident, “created the false impression that she was depositing cash donations made to the Sisters of St. Francis, knowing that the impression was false and she instead used the United States currency for her own personal gain and benefit,” the complaint said.

Conrad’s bond was previously set at $250,000.
