MORRIS, IL — A Wilmington teenager named Bryan Boivin is no longer being kept in the Grundy County Jail after Boivin concocted an outlandish and false story claiming that two people robbed him at gunpoint during his pizza delivery in rural Morris, the Sheriff of Grundy County revealed.

Back on April 24, Grundy County announced Thursday evening, sheriff's deputies were sent to Gun Club Road and Ashley Road in unincorporated Morris for an armed robbery call. At the scene, Boivin told them he had delivered a pizza to a house on Gun Club Road and while returning to Morris, a car cut him off the road and forced him to stop, the sheriff noted.

Two people supposedly emerged from the vehicle, displayed a gun and demanded money from Boivin, according to his account to the sheriff's agency. Boivin also told deputies he told the armed gunmen he had no money, and then they attacked him, hitting his head and face before speeding off. Boivin claimed the gunmen had a black SUV and drove east on Gun Club Road.

According to Thursday's press release shared on Facebook, "detectives found inconsistencies with the story that Boivin had provided at the scene and he was brought to the sheriff's office on May 7 for an interview. During that interview, Boivin admitted that the incident did not actually happen and that he had made up the story about being robbed."

On Wednesday, a Grundy County grand jury issued an indictment for the Wilmington teenager on charges of disorderly conduct, and Morris police arrested Boivin around 8 p.m. and took him into custody. Grundy County noted that Boivin has since been released from custody, and he was given a future court date.
