Police Fatally Shoot 'Distraught And Armed' Person In Morris

Morris police were called to an apartment building Friday morning for a report of a suicidal person.

MORRIS, IL — Police fatally shot a person they described as "distraught and armed" in the parking lot of a Morris apartment complex, officials said.

Morris police said officers were called to the 1800 block of Anne Lane just before 11 a.m. for a report of a suicidal person.

"Officers arrived and came in contact with a distraught and armed subject in the parking lot of the apartment complex," police said, and discharged their guns, fatally shooting the person, who has not been identified.

No one else was hurt in the incident, and police said there is no threat to the public.

Illinois State Police are investigating the incident. No other details have yet been released.

Police said Morris officers, the Grundy County Sheriff's Office, Morris Fire Protection and Grundy County Emergency Management Agency were at the scene.
