Rapist Extorted Teen With Supposed Secret Sex Video, Abused Him For More Than Year: Cops

JOLIET, IL — A rapist extorted a teenage boy for more than a year, forcing him to have sex in exchange for keeping a secret video under wraps, police said.

Erick Rodriguez, 26, knew his 16-year-old victim from playing sports with him, police said. The teen reportedly went to the cops Tuesday and told them Rodriguez had been forcing him to engage in oral and anal sex for more than a year.

“He threatened if he told anyone he would show a video” of them together, police said. The teen was not certain the video even existed.

On Wednesday afternoon, police received a tip that Rodriguez was involved in a disturbance at a home on the east side and was refusing to leave the residence.

Police reportedly pulled Rodriguez over as he was driving away from the house and placed him under arrest.

Rodriguez was charged with criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and intimidation, contempt or ridicule. He was booked into the Will County jail.
