Sex Offender Visits Public Park In Braidwood: Prosecutors
Last week, authorities in Will County filed criminal charges against Wesley Shats, a Braidwood resident who committed his crime in Iowa.

BRAIDWOOD — The Will County State's Attorney's Office has filed criminal charges against a 38-year-old Braidwood resident in connection with allegations that Wesley Shats violated the Illinois Sex Offender Registry by visiting the Braidwood Lake Boat Launch on Sept. 14.
Criminal charges of sex offender in a public park were filed last week at the Will County Courthouse against Shats, who lives at 556 North Center Street in Braidwood. Shats is listed as a lifetime registrant who committed the crime of attempted criminal sexual abuse by force in Iowa when he was 33 years old and his victim was 20 years old.
The new charges for Shats came as a result of an Illinois Department of Natural Resources investigation and the criminal complaint was signed by Nicholas Honiotes. According to the complaint, Shats is a sex offender who went to the Braidwood Lake Boat Launch at the Kankakee Street in Braceville.
