Stolen Car Prompts Police Chase From Coal City To McCormick Place

Chase began when police saw a Chrysler that was reported stolen in Naperville last Friday

CHICAGO, IL — Illinois State Police said four people are in custody after a police chase involving a stolen car started in Coal City ended over 60 miles away in Chicago Tuesday morning at McCormick Place. WLS TV said according to police, the chase began around 1 a.m. when Coal City police saw a Chrysler that was reported stolen in Naperville last Friday, and tried to stop the car. According to WLS, that's when the car's driver tried to slam into the officer's squad car before driving off.

Just over 20 minutes away in Channahon, police said spike strips were deployed and ended up deflating one of the Chrysler's tires. According to WLS, the chase took police on I-55 as Illinois State Police joined chase efforts near Darien and followed the car into Chicago before ending at a McCormick Place parking lot, police said.

Four people were taken to the Grundy County Jail and no injuries or crashes were reported, WLS said.
