The Channahon Fire Protection District has set a goal of having 40 blood donors at its upcoming blood drive. The drive is set for noon to 7 p.m., June 27. The drive is at station one, 24929 S. Center St. We also are amused by the flyer the district created for this event, which is posted to this column.
In other business news:
- Shorewood-Troy Public Library still has spots available for donors to participate in the Red Cross Blood Drive from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., July 1. Every donor gets two tickets to the Laugh Factory Comedy Club in Chicago. Additionally, donors will be entered into a contest to win $3,000. For more information, click here.
- A pair of reading glasses were found at Summerfest, they were turned in from the beer garden area. Please call 815-467-2298 or come to the Minooka Police Department to see if they are yours.
- The Shrimp Barn happily announced on its Facebook page that they now have a changing table in the ladies bathroom. They also apologized because it took so long.
- Lastly, if you are planning a trip this summer, Three Rivers Public Library District's Sparkles the library turtle wants to travel with you. Stop in at either library location to pick up 'Flat Sparkles' and take her on your travels. Take a photo of Sparkles, with or without you, and post it here on our Facebook page!
