Person Of Interest In Death Investigation Rode His Car On Its Rims: Channahon Police

CHANNAHON, IL — The Channahon Police force issued a press release announcing that 37-year-old motorist Matthew Angleton is now in Will County's Jail following Thursday night's high-speed chase that took place across several Will County communities.

The incident unfolded at 10:53 p.m. at the BP gas station at Route 6 near the I-55 exits in Channahon.

Channahon police approached the vehicle after realizing through a felony police alert that the driver was a person of interest in a death investigation.

When the officers tried to stop Angleton, he hit the gas and sped away, drawing a huge police chase with officers from Grundy County, Will County, Channahon, Shorewood, Elwood and others participating. Channahon police said Angleton rammed into several police cars during his effort to get away.

Officers ultimately deflated his tires with stop sticks and the chase ended near Lockport at 143rd Street near I-355. By that point, Angleton's vehicle was heavily damaged and he was driving on his rims.

Angleton first went to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox for an evaluation and then he was booked into the Will County Jail.

He's being charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, obstruction of justice, obstructing a police officer and having an Illinois Department of Corrections parole violation warrant.

Channahon police noted that nobody was injured during the late night chase and capture. They have not released any additional details on the death investigation.
