Tinley Park Lawyer Sues Secretary Who Accused Him of Sexual Harassment

A Tinley Park attorney sued a former secretary who accused him of sexual harassment.

Attorney Joel C. Zimmerman filed his lawsuit against former secretary Jaimy Maxey in Will County court.

Zimmerman fired Maxey, 50, in March 2014 “due to lack of performance, lack of experience, lack of expertise, poor communication skills and otherwise poor secretarial skills,” according to his lawsuit. She lasted only eight months at the job.

Just five months after she was fired, Maxey went to the state’s Human Rights Commission and accused Zimmerman of sexually harassing her. Maxey’s allegations were “false and defamatory,” according to the lawsuit.

Maxey, who lived in Oak Lawn when she made her Human Rights Commission complaint, had claimed that Zimmerman “made sexual advances” toward her.

Zimmerman “told me he would have to ‘fire’ me so he could have sex with me, made sexualy inappropriate comments toward me, stated that ‘all women are f---ing c---s,’ asked me about my sex life, told me about his sexual escapades (including but not limited to, ‘cruising’ for ‘strippers,’ and boasting about picking up a ‘stripper’ from a ‘bus stop’ and having sex with her,) making sexual comments about my dress attire, telling me he wanted to watch me change into my workout clothes, asking me out to dinner and for drinks, asking me to work Saturdays only to have him ask me out to lunch instead of working (and yelling at me when I declined to go to lunch with him), etc.,” according to Maxey’s civil rights violation complaint.

Maxey referred questions about the case to her lawyer but then would not reveal the name of her attorney.
