Rapper 'Just Released' From Cook County Jail Shot 64 Times: Cops

A 31-year-old rapper was shot and killed while walking outside the jail at 27th and California, reportedly had just been released from jail.

CHICAGO — A 31-year-old man was shot and killed walking out of Cook County Jail Saturday night after being released on electronic monitoring, the Chicago Tribune reported. Two women also suffered injuries in the shooting.

Chicago police said the 31-year-old man, identified by the news media as Londre Sylvester, was with a 60-year-old woman around 8:50 p.m. in the 2700 block of West 27th Street, near the Cook County Department of Corrections and just a block from the George Leighton Criminal Courthouse, when two people got out of a car and fired guns, striking them both.

A 35-year-old woman standing nearby suffered a graze wound from the shooting. She and the 60-year-old-woman were both hospitalized in good condition.

Sylvester, whose stage name is KTS Dre , suffered as many as 64 gunshot wounds to his head and other parts of his body, according to the Chicago Tribune. He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office had not identified him as of Sunday afternoon. He was "known to police," according to a police narrative of the shooting.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office deferred questions to the Chicago Police Department, which is investigating the shooting.

Sylvester was shot in the face and chest, and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has not identified him. He was "known to police," according to a police narrative of the shooting. As many as 59 shell casings were found at the scene. No one is in custody.
