1 Dead After Speeding Car Crashes Into McCormick Place

According to a news report, two cars were drag racing when they lost control and one of them crashed into the building.

CHICAGO, IL — A person was killed after a speeding car crashed into the McCormick Place Convention Center and burst into flames on Saturday morning, according to police and news reports.

The Chicago Sun Times reports that a security guard at the convention center told fire officials a car lost control while drag racing. Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said two cars were speeding when they lost control and one crashed into the convention center.

A woman in the car that crashed and caught on fire died at the scene, according to the Sun Times.
