10th Ward Residents Can Pick Up Free Smoke Detectors Today
Chicago Fire Department provides free smoke detectors and fire safety information to 10th Ward residents at Engine 46 until 2 p.m. Friday.

SOUTH CHICAGO - On Friday, Chicago Fire Commissioner Richard Ford and Ald. Susan Sadlowski-Garza held a gathering at Engine 46 to pass out free smoke detectors and provide residents with fire prevention information.
Patricia Rodriguez was the first neighbor to show up Friday morning.
"There's a lot of information and you get a new smoke detector. I'm going to put mine in the attic. If you have a short circuit and it goes off, I'll know what's happening and get the hell out of the house."
