12-Year-Old Girl Killed; 14-Year-Old Boy Charged In Shooting: Chicago Police
Dalilah Batey was fatally shot in the face, authorities said, adding a 14-year-old is charged with involuntary manslaughter.
CHICAGO — A 12-year-old girl was fatally shot in the face over the weekend on Chicago’s South Side and a 14-year-old boy was charged in the killing, according to police.
Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. Sunday to the scene at a home in the 9200 block of South Harper Avenue in the Calumet Heights neighborhood, police said. The girl, identified by authorities as Dalilah Batey, was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.
The boy was arrested around 10:15 p.m. Sunday in the area of the shooting and is charged with involuntary manslaughter, police said.

Several people were home when the shooting occurred, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Over 100 people gathered Monday night to honor Dalilah’s memory in Auburn Gresham, the newspaper reported.
