16-Year-Old Girl Wounded by Gunfire While Walking to School
She was hit in the leg as a truck and a car traded shots on Chicago's West Side.
Another bystander has been shot on Chicago’s neighborhood streets. This time, a 16-year-old girl walking to school on the West Side was wounded during an exchange of gunfire between a man in a U-Haul truck and someone in a passing car Thursday morning.
The shooting took place about 8:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Kildare near Hirsch Street in Humboldt Park, according to police. WGN reports that shots were exchanged between the driver of the U-Haul and a person in the car, then the truck driver plowed into parked cars along the street.
The girl, about a block away on the sidewalk, suffered a gunshot wound to her right leg. She was taken to Advocate Masonic Medical Center. WGN reports that she’s in stable condition.

The green car sped away. The truck driver was not injured.
