The Peninsula and The Langham both earned top marks from the magazine. Find out how they ranked.

CHICAGO, IL — Last year, The Langham in Chicago landed atop U.S. News & World Report's list of best hotels in the country. Although the hotel lost its No. 1 spot for 2018, it still made the magazine's cut this year. And it brought company.

The Langham and The Peninsula were two of the city's luxury hotels ranked in U.S. News & World Report's top five best U.S. hotels for 2018, the magazine announced Tuesday. The Pennisula was rated No. 2, followed by The Langham at No. 3, according to the rankings.

Hawaii’s Four Seasons Resort Lanai topped the list this year, and another Hawaiian hotel, Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, was ranked at No. 5. Twin Farms in Vermont was the only hotel not in Chicago or Hawaii to make the list, coming in at No. 4.

The Peninsula (108 E. Superior St.): "The Peninsula Chicago combines Hong Kong's cosmopolitan flair with the Windy City's Midwestern charm. Travelers describe the guest rooms as comfortable thanks to their creamy color palette and plush furniture, not to mention their modern techie touches, like a bedside remote command station that controls the lights, television and room temperatures. Meanwhile, the renowned Peninsula Spa is in a class by itself. … Another honorable mention goes to the afternoon tea served in the lobby bar. …"
