The students were robbed while walking near campus when police say an armed suspect got out of a car and demanded their phone and wallet.

CHICAGO — Two University of Chicago students were robbed at knifepoint on Tuesday night after police said two suspects got out of a car and demanded the students’ cell phones and wallets.
Chicago Police along with University of Chicago security said that the incident took place at 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday in the 1300 block of East 58th Street. Police said that the students were walking when a gray Kia Sportage approached the students and two suspects got out of the car.
The students complied with the demand for their possessions, police said, after the suspect showed a knife. Both of the suspects got back in the vehicle and fled.

"Be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times," university officials said in a security alert issued to students. "Do not resist an armed robbery unless absolutely necessary. Avoid using cell phones or other electronic devices while on the street. When walking, try to walk with a group or have a friend walk with you. There is safety in numbers."
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and no injuries were reported. Police added that the vehicle is believed to be the same one used in other recent Hyde Park robberies.
