3 Die in I-57/Route 45 Wreck in Kankakee
The speeding car veered off the road Monday morning. One person survived.

KANKAKEE — Three people died when a speeding car veered off Route 45 after leaving I-57 and struck a light pole in Kankakee early Monday morning. Four people were in the car when it struck the pole, and three were killed on impact at about 5 a.m., according to police. The fourth was taken to a hospital.
The Kankakee Daily Journal offers details:
The driver was speeding and ran into a stop light, tossing the car into a nearby culvert. Two of the men who died were pinned inside the vehicle. The driver, who also died, was ejected. A fourth has survived and made it out on his own before a witness called police and paramedics.

The Kankakee County Coroner told the Daily Journal alcohol was in the car but autopsies have yet to be conducted to conclude whether the driver had been drinking.
