3-Year-Old Girl Dies After Bike Collides With Truck In Uptown: CPD
Cops: Woman operating the bike lost control, colliding with a truck, which then hit the little girl who was riding on the back of the bike.
CHICAGO — A 3-year-old girl who was riding on the back of a bicycle was killed on Wednesday after she was struck by a truck. The incident happened after the woman who was operating the bicycle lost control, Chicago Police said Thursday.
The accident took place at 8:18 a.m. on Thursday in the 1100 block of West Leland in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. Police said the girl was on the back of the bicycle when the woman collided with a semi-truck that was traveling in the same direction as the bike.
The bike fell to the ground, police said, and the girl was struck by the truck. She was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The woman driving the bike was not injured.
