After Prince's sudden death Thursday at 57, tributes across the globe, including all-night dance raves and non-stop radio and TV play, have emerged. And now, the movie theaters have joined. AMC will screen Prince's 1984 movie "Purple Rain" from April 23 through April 28 at select locations.
AMC locations in the Chicago area showing the film include:
- AMC 600 North Michigan 9
- AMC Naperville 16
- AMC South Barrington 30
- AMC Schererville 16
The plot? "A young man with a talent for music has begun a career with much promise. He meets an aspiring singer, Apollonia, and finds that talent alone isn't all that he needs. A complicated tale of his repeating his father's self destructive behavior, losing Apollonia to another singer (Morris Day), and his coming to grips with his own connection to other people ensues."
