4-Month-Old Girl Died Of Child Abuse Injuries: Officials
According to police, a man found the infant unresponsive Monday evening and took her to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
CHICAGO — A 4-month-old girl found on the South Side is dead from injuries consistent with child abuse, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.
According to police, a 24-year-old man found the infant unresponsive at around 6 p.m. Monday in the 7200 block of South Ellis Avenue and took her to Jackson Park Hospital. Police said she was pronounced dead shortly after.
The girl has been identified as Lailanni Fields. An autopsy conducted Tuesday said she died of injuries from child abuse and ruled her death a homicide, according to authorities.

Police told Patch they are conducting a death investigation. No arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
