1. Two people were killed in an Englewood shooting Thursday night in the front yard of a home. According to CBS Chicago, three other people were shot and injured in the 600 block of West 61st Place. (CBS)

2. South Shore residents are suing the city and school district in an attempt to block plans to use a vacant school building as a space for migrants. South Shore High School will serve as a “respite center” for more than 250 migrants as they await shelter. (Block Club)
3. Health officials are warning about a rise in monkeypox cases in Chicago, WBEZ reports. “We want to be very ahead of the curve on this to hopefully prevent any kind of larger outbreak from happening,” Howard Brown Health spokesperson Wren O’Kelley said. (WBEZ)
