$85K Reward For Info On Killing Of CPD Explosives Tech: Authorities

The retired Chicago police explosives technician was fatally shot while working in his yard, according to authorities.

CHICAGO — Authorities are offering a combined $85,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed retired Chicago police explosives technician Larry Neuman.

Neuman was fatally shot around 11:30 a.m. Thursday while working in his yard in the 4300 block of West Monroe Street, according to Cook County Crime Stoppers.

The 73-year-old was an ordained minister at St. Michael Missionary Baptist Church and had recently worked as a transportation security specialist in explosives for the Transportation Security Administration, according to WGN. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Vietnam, the outlet reported, noting a prayer vigil and march in his memory were planned for Sunday.

Police have released footage of two suspects, both young men who appear to be 16-21 years old and were wearing dark hoodies and Jordan shoes. They are considered armed and dangerous, according to Crime Stoppers.

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, FBI Chicago, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives each offered $25,000 rewards for information and Crime Stoppers offered $10,000.
