Later that evening, Chicago Animal Care and Control transferred the Aldi coyote to Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation.

Flint Creek staff theorize that the coyote entered an open door of the grocery store trying to escape human traffic and then hid in the refrigerated section in an attempt to hide from people inside the store.

“One of our volunteers picked him up last night from Chicago Animal Care and Control. He arrived back at our facility at approximately 7 p.m., the wildlife rehab center said on Facebook.”

There was a similar situation back in 2007 where a coyote entered a Quiznos in downtown Chicago.

“That coyote was healthy and was released following evaluation,” Flint Creek officials said.

The ALDI coyote is unharmed, but he is scared. Flint Creek officials said it will return him to the wild as he is ready.
