Amazon Server Crash Sparks Internet Outages Across IL, Nation
Dozens of companies were affected by the Amazon Web Services outage, including Patch, which was unable to publish for much of Tuesday.

ILLINOIS — Amazon web services was back online Wednesday after going down across much of the country Tuesday morning. The outage plagued not just the online retailer but dozens of other services that use Amazon's backend, including Disney Plus, Ring security cameras, Roku, Cash App, Venmo, Tinder, Instacart, Ticketmaster and various online video games, according to the Associated Press, which was also affected.
"We have identified the root cause and are actively working towards recovery," Amazon posted on its service health dashboard Tuesday morning.
"The root cause of this issue is an impairment of several network devices in the US-EAST-1 Region," Amazon explained subsequently. "We are pursuing multiple mitigation paths in parallel, and have seen some signs of recovery, but we do not have an ETA for full recovery at this time."
