- State Rep. LaShawn Ford is pushing a bill in Springfield that would increase penalties for shooting kids. "What kind of nonsense is that to have people think that they can get away with shooting in places like an amusement park? Shooting at McDonald's. That's ridiculous. We have to send the message to people that we are not going to tolerate killing our babies," Ford said. (FOX32)
- The CEO of Audiotree — owner of hip music venues Shubas and Lincoln Hall — has been ousted. Michael Johnston was charged with a felony for making an unauthorized recording of his nanny and another woman in the bathroom of his home. His arrest made headlines last week when the alleged victims of voyeurism filed a civil lawsuit. (Eater)
- You can get a look at the original, handwritten copy of the Gettysburg Address starting Friday. Curators at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum will keep the 272-word speech on display until Nov. 30 to coincide with the famous speech’s 158th anniversary. (WTTW)
- Illinois football coach Bret Bielema's bad rookie season got worse. The vaccinated head coach tested positive for coronavirus, and will miss Saturday's match up against Iowa. (Patch)
- Unvaccinated teenagers are to blame for spiking coronavirus cases, Chicago's top doc says. "Unvaccinated teenagers are not only driving a lot of our outbreak right now, but they are [at a] much, much higher risk of getting COVID,” Dr. Allison Arwdy said. (NBC5)
