CHICAGO, IL — Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith is feared to have seriously injured a pectoral muscle in the team's victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday.

The NFL website reports a source as having told NFL Insider's Ian Rappaport that the linebacker may have suffered a torn pectoral muscle, and that the injury could be a season-ending one pending MRI results.

Bears coach Matt Nagy isn't so hopeful about the injury. "We'll get more details in the next couple of days, [but] it doesn't look real good for him," he said, ESPN reported.

The NFL reported Smith has been "a tackling machine" in recent games, having racked up tackles in the double digits in four of the last five games, which includes two sacks and 16 tackles in the Bears' Thanksgiving victory over the Detroit Lions.

"The way that Roquan has been playing the last couple of weeks, he's been flying around and making plays. You just love that confidence that he's bringing to the defense," Nagy said in the ESPN report.

Smith is the second Bears linebacker with a potentially lengthy absence from the roster, as Danny Travathan recovers from an elbow injury sustained during the game against the Lions. USA Today reported Nagy was not all that optimistic about Travathan's injury, either.
