Bob Dylan, Mavis Staples To Perform Wintrust Arena's 1st Concert

The grand opening concert for the new venue at McCormick Square will be Oct. 27.

CHICAGO, IL — A twin bill of Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples will be the inaugural concert in October for the new Wintrust Arena at McCormick Square, the venue and Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office announced Monday. The concert will be the third public event at the new arena. The Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame awards dinner will be held Oct. 2, and the venue will be part of the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s Open House Chicago festival, which spotlights more than 200 buildings across the city Oct. 14-15.

Dylan and Staples will perform a grand opening concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27. Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Ticketmaster's website.

Wintrust Arena is the new 10,000-seat venue at McCormick Square designed to host concerts and sports and other events. In November, the arena will be the new home for DePaul University's men's and women's basketball teams, and next season, the Chicago Sky of the WNBA will play there.
