CHICAGO — A 41-year-old woman who was found dead in a parked car in Lake View has been identified as a missing person. Her death was ruled a homicide, officials said Wednesday.

Kendra Gardner was found on Tuesday evening slumped over in the front seat of a gold Cadillac sedan in the 3000 block of North Clifton Avenue, police said in a report. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office listed her time of death as 4:30 p.m.

A Wednesday autopsy determined Gardner died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police found Gardner's body on Tuesday when responding to a call of an unconscious man sitting in the driver's seat of the Cadillac sedan. But when officers arrived at the scene they only found Gardner in the passenger seat with what appeared to be a bullet wound in her neck.

Earlier the same day, police filed a missing persons report for Gardner, who was last seen Saturday on the Far South Side. Officials noticed the woman in the car matched the missing persons report, but could not confirm the body was Gardner's until Wednesday.

No Chicago Police Department cameras were in the area but detectives obtained private surveillance video footage and used a license plate tracker to learn the Cadillac was last seen traveling north in the 4500 block of South Lake Shore Drive on Monday.
