Bulls' Kris Dunn Cracks Teeth, Arena Floor With Face-First Fall

VIDEO: The Chicago point guard is out indefinitely with a concussion after a scary spill following a dunk in Wednesday's game.

CHICAGO, IL — Kris Dunn's frightening face-first fall while going up for a dunk Wednesday not only injured the Chicago Bulls point guard, but it also damaged the United Center's court floor. Dunn dislocated two front teeth and cracked several others in the fall, the Bulls said Thursday. He also suffered a concussion and is out indefinitely as he goes through the NBA's protocol.

The Bulls' home court got off relatively easy in comparison.

"There was a good little chunk that he took out of the floor. … Tough kid," coach Fred Hoiberg told ESPN after the game, a 119-112 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

The horrific-looking spill came in the closing minutes of Wednesday's contest. With 2:55 left in the fourth quarter, Dunn swiped the ball from Warriors guard Klay Thompson and sprinted down the court for an uncontested dunk.

But Dunn was unable to land on his feet — or even cushion the fall with his hands and arms — and he face-planted on the court. Officials stopped the game as the team treated Dunn while he was on the ground for several minutes.

The Bulls initially said Dunn had no concussion symptoms. But that changed after he was re-evaluated Thursday, and he was placed in the league's concussion protocol. Dunn did not travel with the team to Atlanta for Saturday's game against the Hawks, according to NBC 5 Chicago.

Hoiberg also clarified to ESPN that Dunn's front teeth weren't knocked out by the fall. The teeth were stabilized and splinted with braces, the Bulls said in a tweet Thursday.

Dunn, 23, is averaging 13.7 points, 6.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game this season, his second in the NBA and first with the Bulls. The former lottery pick was acquired from the Timberwolves in the trade that sent Jimmy Butler to Minnesota.
